Exciting News: Ombud for The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard

I started getting kind messages last Friday and news travels fast so for those of you not connected with me on social media, here it is:

I'm excited to announce that as of June 20th I'll begin serving as Ombud for The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. Working as an independent contractor, I'll be providing Broadies with a confidential, informal and neutral space to address their work-related concerns. The Broad is a collaborative organization that brings together researchers from MIT, Harvard and Harvard-affiliated hospitals to innovate and accelerate biomedical research and improve human health.

In addition to getting to know this new community, for me it's pretty cool to be working with the same group that sent me emails 2-3x per week with my campus Covid test results. And speaking of campuses, my work with the Broad is in addition to my continued role as Ombud for Faculty and Staff at Wesleyan University and Clark University and it complements my continued teaching at Emerson College - which will mark 10 years this September!

While I have your attention,

Happy Pride Month!

With almost 240 anti-LGBTQ+ bills filed just as of March this year, most of which target trans people, it's more important than ever to be an ally. That means understanding, supporting and taking action to protect the LGBTQ+ community, and in particular trans folks, who are further marginalized for political gain.

Take a minute (1:40 to be exact) to learn a brief history of Pride Month and click below for ways that you can be an ally. It takes more than just adding a rainbow to a corporate logo and there are so many ways to support and help!

The Human Rights Campaign is the largest LGBTQ advocacy group and LGBTQ political lobbying organization in the United States.

Here are some ways that you can be an ally for trans equality and also the many ways that you can use your voice to create equality for all.

Hope you and your loved ones stay safe and have a wonderful summer!
